Walnut End Table

Furniture Design

The end-table design was based on a small resin sculpture I built  while in grad school. The body is solid walnut and the legs are maple. The size of the body was dictated by the size of the largest board I could find at the lumber yard, without access to a plainer & jointer I felt it would be difficult to join boards and make them look nice, luckily I was able to find a board large enough so that the end-table will accept standard size magazines. Also in the interest of keeping things simple and easy to build the legs are attached to the outside box and are simply glued and doweled in place. The end product is sturdy and does a good job supporting a glass of scotch.
